The School of Chinese Medicine at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) stands as a pioneering institution in the global advancement of Chinese medicine. Since its establishment in 1999 as the first UGC-funded institution in Hong Kong to offer full-time undergraduate programmes in Chinese medicine and pharmacy in Chinese medicine, the School has been committed to nurturing a new generation of high-calibre professionals in the field. The School provides a comprehensive academic pathway, offering programmes at the sub-degree, undergraduate, postgraduate and research postgraduate levels, including Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Its research is strategically focused on three key areas of global health significance: Precision Medicine and Phenomics; Translational Medicine and Innovative Drug Discovery; and the Authentication and Testing of Chinese Medicines. The School’s academic and research excellence is supported by an extensive clinical network comprising 16 Chinese medicine clinics across Hong Kong, operated both directly by the School and in collaboration with the Hospital Authority and non-profit organisations. In 2021, HKBU was selected by the HKSAR Government to operate Hong Kong’s first-ever Chinese Medicine Hospital.
